Notes
Born to a family of aristocrats, Bartholemew was raised in the church of Tritherion, in the small ocean-side town of Glimmersea..
His father Neilfien, greatly disapproved of his adventuring lifestyle, many were the arguments and threats from both men. This rift existed between father and son, until Neilfien, lying on his death-bed, made peace. Bart’s father passed quietly, of old age earlier this year, Bart holding his hand at his side until the last breath. Bart didn’t attend the funeral.
The same could not be said for Bart’s sister, Lehnna, who was a beautiful dark haired woman of twenty three years, in her sorrow, shock, and depression over the loss of her father she took her own life by throwing herself into the see from the cliffs near Glimmersea. Her soul, according to the tenants of faith will be in limbo until she is redeemed by a sacrifice, by a family member. Bart, being part of the church, understands both his sister’s woe and the reason for the churches condemnation of the act, he is thankful for the redemption that may be earned, on her behalf.
Now at age thirty, “Brother Bart”, as he is known by the flock, is always searching for a way to help the common man. Wherever despotism and evil may exist, he is sworn to break the iron fisted hold of tyranny, and free those under the yoke of slavery. With similar vigor, he is on the lookout for converts to the cause of freedom, and enlightenment.
As a philosophy, he feels, there is a place for law, if it upholds and brings weal, to those under its sway, but absolutism is evil, and no evil is acceptable. Upon his sister’s death he donated the lands and most of the family holdings to the local gentry and farmers, leaving enough for his mother to live comfortably on the rents collected, and the family home. Since he has no intent on being a land baron, he has asked the local church representative, Father Maarik, that upon his mother demise the family lands be raffled to the commoners in parcel, an act that will free his sister from limbo, and allow her to finally join wither her ancestors in Arvandor.
Most recently, Bart has been following up on a rumor that a group of slavers has taken up near Glimmersea, and made his way to the reported location deep within the wood north of the town. Disregarding the possible need for reinforcements, he has made a dash to the locale.
